Spoon

Past brambles of duck feathers

through thin mattress covers

four legs nestled together

kindling stacked cross-hatched

They weaved and writhed

as plump hot earthworms

squirming in their musky stickiness

knees brushing inside thigh clefts

Arms wrapped a muscle nest

around two heart eggs

rocking in breathless sleep

in thump judder bone thatch

Until thick duvet shells crack

with sealed eyes and open mouthed

we eat away the night a newborn

love spooning in steaming heat
