No Crime Here (Except for…), a poem by Alexander Manzoni

Time passes on. The days are long, too long.
Waiting for the hands of justice to move.
Waiting for my government to do its job.
But instead, they do everything in their power
to shield those who do not deserve it—
to shield the president and his miserable assembly of
mutants, malcontents & Fox News T.V. cronies.

So many have already gone to jail, to prison.
But the Republicans want you to not only forget that—
but to disregard it. No crime here, except for all the ones committed by the guilty:
Michael Flynn (made false, fictitious AND fraudulent statements to the FBI; due to be sentenced: January, 2020).
Paul Manafort (tax evasion, bank fraud, money laundering, 47 months in prison).
Michael Cohen (campaign finance violations, tax fraud, unlawful corporate contributions, excessive campaign contributions, making false statements).

They’re not alone.
Don’t forget Roger Stone, with his gigantic, goofy glasses
(making false statements to congress, witness tampering & obstructing a legal proceeding).
George Papadopoulos (making false statements to the F.B.I.).
Wonder why?
They were directed, by our president: King Trump.
And manipulated, by Emperor Putin.

The impeachment proceedings have begun.
McConnell said that he wants a speedy trial, without witnesses.
You have got to be kidding me. Trump touted his transparency.
It is unbelievable, to me. All they need to do is not act guilty.
But they cannot help it. Kids caught with their hands in the cookie jar.
How far will they go to slow the cogs of congressional reckoning?
It is sickening, that these crooks have obtained such authority.
