We are animals whose pack dispersed,

leaving us to forage in fear.

The cues we take from shoulder mates

have dwindled into electronic haze.

Our reassurances have shriveled with

our compact of accommodation.

Bad now, but worse if we lose

our desire for community and begin

to forage off each other.
