PANDEMIC

If I knew what to say
when the veins popped
through
I would say
nothing looks bad on
you

Not illness
or shame
or viruses with
odd names
that keep changing
as if we will forget the lies
and backpedaling which
lined the pandemic’s
spread through the States
and 200 countries to date:
coronavirus
COVID-19
Sars-CoV2

Make up your minds!
Either its deadly like
the Spanish Flu and
ebola bonked a
bad one-night stand
in a level 4 lab in
Winnipeg
or its just a
hoax
as the imposter said
(the one who likes too
much attention)

This much is true
nothing looks bad on you
no death beating on a
drum with fat palms
or hope glinting on
the wings of a sparrow

“This too shall pass”
my grandmother always told me
Will this pass like a feverish dream
or the Angel of Death?
Is there enough blood
enough regret
spread over my doorway
for all to see?

Will we dance in the
sunset when this killer is
through?
As I said
nothing looks bad on you.
