Lips pressed tight
Jaw set hard
Pupils wide
alert.
From the lower lip
Upward
It slides effortlessly
the string pulls taunt.
Blinded by the pain
Blinking
It pulls upward
again and again.
Itʼs hard to breathe
Tongue tastes blood
Rakes along the
fence
of thread outside my
mouth.
One, Two, Three
Itʼs difficult to move
Eyes burn
hands are tied.
With strength from
within
My lips force open
Tearing, Ripping
Standing Tall.
I am innocent
but not
without guilt.
I will
NOT be silenced.
Inspiration: We all have moments in our life when we see or hear things that we know are wrong; that we know shouldn’t happen. Often we are expected to remain silent; to look away. We often feel guilt for what we see or hear even though we took no part other than bear witness. How could or should we deal with these moments… that is the question…
Author’s statement: ”I am what I am.” I love good coffee & post about random happenings & tasty breakfasts. Thought provoking #poetry & upcoming children’s books. You can find them on Twitter @Moomii_Moo.
Well Moomii, this one speaks highly for you r=talent as a poet, and philosophical perspective.
