afar
by Peter Fullagar
from miles away i feel the unbearable burden
 for your safety.
 controlling
 your movements from
 infection, collecting
 your coordinates
 traversing from
 room to room to
 room.
 confinement can never
 be satisfying when
you are there, and i am
here.
 phone calls that,
i open no longer with hello
 but a question of symptoms
 to which you respond
 in the negative

and only then

can i rest
until tomorrow.
